A Horrible Movie

Last Saturday, Mr. Williams planned to spend an enjoyable afternoon with his family, so he rented a movie with a monster on the cover. He thought it was an amusing cartoon. Yet he didn’t realise it was a horror movie.

When he went back home, everyone was excited because they saw the movie in his hand.

“Dad, let’s watch it at once,” the son begged.

So Mr. William played the movie immediately. They sat on the sofa comfortably, watching attentively at the TV screen. Suddenly, a horrible monster appeared.

“Ugh! What’s that ugly creature?” shouted mum. She was so shocked that she covered her eyes with her hands. The son was also frightened and he cried loudly. Mr. William didn’t want to lose face, so he pretended he wasn’t scared at all. At the end, they stopped watching it.

That night, they couldn’t sleep well. Worse than that, they dreamed about the same monster chasing them angrily.

The next morning, they felt so tired that they couldn’t concentrate on their work!

Honesty is the Best Policy

Last Sunday, Bruce and his friends Ben and Tom went to a nearby park to play baseball.  While they were playing excitedly, Bruce hit the ball hard. Unfortunately, the ball flew towards a house and broke the window. The boys were scared because they thought that the house owner would scold them.

“Let’s apologise to the house owner,” suggested Tom.

“Oh no, we’ll be punished. Let’s run away as quickly as possible!” begged Ben.

“Come on, we should say sorry to the owner sincerely because we’ve done something wrong so we need to admit our mistake,” explained Bruce bravely.

At the end, they agreed. So they went to the house and knocked the door nervously.

Suddenly, an old lady who appeared friendly opened the door.

   “We’re so sorry to…”

“Never mind. Just come in and take a seat,” the lady interrupted.

To their surprise, the lady forgave them and treated them with some yummy snacks. They chatted happily the whole afternoon.

Finally, they learned that “Honesty is the best policy!”

This Was Not Jack’s Day!

Last Saturday morning, Jack’s father was dissatisfied after seeing Jack’s report card because he got very poor grades. His father scolded him angrily, “You’re such a lazy boy. You must work harder!” Jack felt unhappy.

In the afternoon, Jack went to the tutorial class as usual. He also scored very low marks in the quiz so he was punished by the tutor. “You’ve to take the quiz again,” shouted the tutor loudly.

Jack was very upset and he left quickly. While he walking down the street, suddenly it rained heavily. Unfortunately, he didn’t get an umbrella with him so he got wet all over his body. Worse than that, he missed a bus.

“What a BAD day it is!” Jack exclaimed miserably.
